If you're of a certain age, you probably remember when computers weren't connected to the internet, used floppy disks and ran an operating system called MS-DOS. If you do, then you also remember the name of some games like Sim City, Leisure Suit Larry and Maniac Mansion. Over 1000 of these classic games are now available to play for free right in your browser.

The Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library that provides thousands of digital items including public domain books, software and websites. They even have an archive of what the first version of WJBQ.com looked like in 1998. Note: I created our first web page. Don't judge. It was 17 years ago.

They even went so far as to get an exemption from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act so they can provide MS-DOS based computer games to play right in your browser for "scholarship and research" that are still copyright protected.

The most popular game in their archive is The Oregon Trail. I never played this when I was in school because the computers we had wouldn't run the game. I knew it was a classic, so I gave it a try. Within 3 minutes I drowned my two children trying to cross a river. That's harsh.

What are your favorite memories of playing The Oregon Trail? How many of these games do you remember? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter.
