How are you ringing in 2019? Going to a party? Or just going to stay at home and watch the ball drop in Times Square again?

Why not do something out of this world to ring in the new year?

Did you know that the Southworth Planetarium in Portland has been bringing in the new year for the last 10? Neither did I!

Sit back in your seat and then next thing you know, you'll be flying among the stars, riding on a thrilling space roller coaster on your way to other planets, space bungee jumping, and checking out a show, narrated by Star Trek’s George Takei, all about asteroids and more. In all there are 12 different shows to fill your night. And of course they will be showing the ball drop in New York so you won't miss a thing.

New Year’s Planetarium starts at 6pm with each show lasting about 30 minutes.

Admission is by donation only, around $7 to $10 per person and that will allow you to either stay for the whole evening or come and go as you please throughout the night.
