It's just about the end of the season at camp and there isn't much wood left in the pile. When we went to uncover the wood to burn what's left, we realized we had had visitors.

As I pulled the tarp off the wood I saw little piles of saw dust. A LOT of little piles of sawdust. Looking closer at one of the pieces, I could see little tracks along the wood. This clearly isn't anything with legs.

Something has been eating away at the wood. It's not a big deal as it's the end of the season and we're going to burn it anyway, but what is this thing?

We aren't the only ones in the campground with the problem. My cousin could actually hear noise in his woodpile from whatever was eating at it.

I've looked online and it seems it could be several different things from beetles to some type of grub. The damage is minimal, but it still fascinates me to see the remnants of their dinner on the ground as a pile of sawdust.

Whatever it is, has been burned alive now, so problem solved, but inquiring minds want to know. Any idea what this might be that's eating my wood?
