I spent most of the morning today refreshing the Apple Trailers website waiting for the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to show up. When it went live I couldn't get it to load. Imagine my disappointment until five minutes later it showed up on YouTube. Take a look!

Now here's what I love about it and what I don't like so much:

I don't know who the evil voice is doing the voice over. Clearly it's whoever the villain is in the movie and we know that Adam Driver will be playing a villain. I don't watch Girls so I really don't know much about this guy. The voice doesn't match his look though. I am very intrigued to say the least and love the sound of this guy whoever he may be.

The Stormtroopers are now bad ass looking! The suits look more menacing and they look like they may actually be able to hit something when they fire their weapons as opposed to missing at nearly point blank range and banging their heads into doors.

X-Wings skimming across the water? Hell yes!

I like the evil dude with the red light saber. The weapon of the Jedi and Sith has clearly evolved over the past 30 years as the blade looks more jagged and now has a laser cross guard at the hilt. I'm not sure I like that. It may grow on me though.

The Millennium Falcon flies across the desert, rolling and pitching as it's fired upon by two Tie Fighters all while John Williams epic theme plays. I may have peed myself. That is the most exciting thing I've seen in a Star Wars film since the Falcon was chased through an asteroid field in The Empire Strikes Back!

What do I wish we had seen? The original cast, even if just for a brief flash. Even if it was only one character. Any of them. Even R2-D2 I would be happy with. These are all new characters though who we know absolutely nothing about. I guess they don't call it a teaser trailer for nothing.

Now we all have to wait until December 18, 2015 to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Just longer than a year. It seems like a long time, but in 1980 I had to wait three years to find out if Darth Vader was really Luke Skywalker's father, so putting it in perspective it's not so bad. I'm going to grab my original trilogy discs now and spend my weekend watching. I still say the prequels didn't happen.

What did you think of the trailer? Let me know in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter.
