For nearly forty years Marty Engstrom, who was the engineer at WMTW would bring you weather reports, in a dry, rhythmic delivery from the top of Mt. Washington.

His real job was taking care of WMTW's broadcast tower on the mountain and keeping channel 8 on the air. But on his first day he was told he would also be doing live weather reports of the weather from the summit.

Marty put on a thick Maine accent and a big ol grin and quickly became kind of a big deal.

Marty retired in 2002 and has written a book about his 38 years living and working on New England;s highest peak. He says he still gets recognized from time to time.
