That Crazy Law That Says It’s Illegal to Park in Front of the South Berwick Dunkin’ Donuts Isn’t as Crazy as You Might Think
There have been lots of lists of the craziest laws in the country and so many of them mention the Dunkin’ Donuts in South Berwick that it is against the law to park in front of. Sounds crazy enough right? Well not when you see it.
The South Berwick Dunkin’ Donuts is at 175 Main Street, right near the intersection of Main and Academy streets. It can get very busy at peak coffee grabbing time and the store is small.
We’ve all run into a traffic jam at Dunkin’ in the morning. In Berwick people would park in front of Dunkin’ to run in and grab their morning fix. That made a mess of traffic and if you look at this Google Street View images, you can see why.
When you read the law as so many of these crazy law lists present it, it makes you think you can’t park in parking spaces in front of Dunkin’ Donuts. As you can see, there are none! The law had to be put in place because people would park there anyway. The law as it’s written even says no parking on the street in front of Dunkin’ Donuts.
No person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any of the streets or parts of streets described:
Main St. (West) In front of Dunkin Donuts to a point 25 feet south.
