Do you have a movie you loved as a kid and were sure your child would love just as much as you, only to be disappointed when they were less than impressed? Yeah me too.

My son is an apple that doesn't fall far from the tree. He landed right up next to the trunk. He likes Star Wars, pinball, video games and comic books, just like dad. So I thought that since we had such similar tastes that he would love one of the movies I loved at his age.

Jake is almost 10-years-old, but back when he was 7, I thought I would show him a classic movie that I was mesmerized by when I saw it at 7-years-old. I told him he'd love it and he was all in.

I popped the DVD in the player and after 10 minutes he was done. "Dad this is boring, he said." My heart practically broke at the words. How could Superman The Movie starring Christopher Reeve be boring?

So as he went off to do whatever, I kept watching and then I realized the truth. Some movies stand up to the test of time. Star Wars is one of them. Superman The Movie though is now showing it's age. It's almost 40 years old and is really cheesy by today's standards. So, I guess I get it. Still though, it's the movie with one of the best theme songs of all time.

Have you had the same experience with your kids? Showing them a movie that you loved as a kid that they didn't? What was it? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter.
