After months of collecting public opinion on a new name for a merging of Lewiston and Auburn, the Lewiston-Auburn Joint Charter Commission has come to a unanimous decision and announced that the new city name would be....

Lewiston-Auburn

Seriously? That's the best we could do?

According to the Sun Journal, says the choices came down to Lewiston-Auburn and Great Falls and the committee chose Lewiston-Auburn. The thinking here is that the name will be familiar, retain the history of the two cities, allow business who use Lewiston or Auburn in their name to keep it and mail deliveries won't be confused with the new name.

Now it comes down to a vote in November. If both cities residents give a majority vote then the process can move on.

What do you think of a city called Lewiston-Auburn?
