Who knew the Toy Hall of Fame was a thing? It is a very credible thing, actually. This year The National Toy Hall of welcomes three classics to it's shelves. These are toys we played with as kids that your kids probably still play with today. Check it out. Hot Wheels, Barbie, Etch-a-Sketch, Hoola Hoops, the rubber duck and jump rope are just a few of the many classic toys that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since it's inception in 1998. You can see the full list of the inducted toys and when they made the cut here.  Have a toy that you think should be on the list? You can nominate one here!

Inducted toys are selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Icon-status: The toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered
  • Longevity: The toy is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over multiple generations
  • Discovery: The toy fosters learning, creativity, or discovery through play
  • Innovation: The toy profoundly changed play or toy design. A toy may be inducted on the basis of this criterion without necessarily having met all of the first three.

So without further delay, here are the toys that have been nominated this year!
