The Androscoggin Swinging Bridge between Brunswick and Topsham was built in 1892 by the same company who constructed the Brooklyn Bridge. Although parts have been replaced and sections have been repaired in the last century, the original support cables from the 1892 structure still suspend this bridge over the Androscoggin River.

The bridge was constructed to give workers at the Cabot Mill a direct path to work. Since the original construction, the wooden structures were replaced with the current steel towers. The superstructure of the bridge was later destroyed in 1938 by a flood. Two years later, the bridge was rebuilt using the original cables from the 1892 construction.

The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
