Are you a child of the '80's? I want you to reminisce for a moment. Picture your birthday, Was their one particular toy you dreamed of and begged for? Do you remember the feeling when you opened it? In 1983, I was 8 years-old. All I wanted was a little blonde Cabbage Patch Kid. The second my feet hit the slippery, hardwood floor, I was flying down the stairs in my sleeper (with cut off feet) to see my gifts. Mom and Dad always wrapped them neatly and left on the kitchen table for us to see when we first awoke. I hooked a sharp right into the hallway like a horse on the final corner of The Kentucky Derby! I stopped dead in my tracks. There it was...the only gift that really mattered...sure, there's a chance it's not my Cabbage Patch, but the box sure the Hell looked like it and trust me I had been studying the box for months, just for this very moment!

It turned out my dream came true. It was a Cabbage Patch and my life (for the moment) was complete. The feeling of opening a favorite toy for the first time is a cross between an out of body experience and a tea kettle whistling while on high, steam shooting out. Here's a few of the toys that gave me that "gaga" feeling. What toys did it for you? Comment below!

In 1983 "The World of Strawberry Shortcake" arrived. Strawberry Shortcake had those adorable freckles, red hair, bonnet and smelt like strawberries. I remember having a giant plastic strawberry I would carry her and her friends around in. Her pals where: Blueberry Muffin, Rasberry Tart, Plum Puddin', Lemon Meringue and Huckleberry Pie. All smelt delish!

"My Little Pony" Hasbro originally introduced in 1981 as a toy and then later a cartoon. I remember watching the show on Sat mornings. Each pony had a cute tattoo like image on their hips and colorful mane any girl loved combing with the supplied brush.

"Teddy Ruxbin" Was the first robotic character toy and the best selling toy on '85 and '86. Christmas involved fist fights for this sucker just like the legendary Cabbage Patch. He came with tapes and his mouth and eyes moved as he told you stories. He is incredibly creepy and I would never allow him in my bed with my other toys. He was a day play toy for me lol.

What are some of the toys you remember opening and never forgetting?
