Maine State Police think that a tractor trailer might have been following too closely when it hit a van in China Wednesday morning. The van slowed down to make a left turn on Route 3 and the truck had to swerve. It still hit the side of the van which was sent into the woods while the tractor trailer flipped over spilling plywood and 60 gallons of diesel fuel.

49-year-old Pamela Page of Palermo was driving the van and ended up being transported to Maine Med after firefighters worked for an hour to free her. The driver of the truck was 46-year-old James Butler of Liberty who was not hurt. According to the Kennebec Journal, as of 4:10 PM Wednesday, the driver of the van was in critical condition.

This goes to show you what can happen when you follow too closely to the car in front of you. Please drive safely and keep at a safe enough distance so that you have time to react to the vehicle in front of you.
