A home rumored to be built in the late 1700's was reduced to rubble in just minutes at Hebron Academy.

Everett Excavation of South Paris was assigned the task of tearing down this home that was moved to the Hebron Academy campus back as early as 1820. It's amazing what one excavator can do to bring a house down.

Hebron Academy opened its doors in 1805 and is one of the nation's oldest boarding schools and has had several notable alumni over the years:

  • Hannibal Hamlin the vice-president under Abraham Lincoln
  • Comedian Tim Sample
  • L.L. Bean
  • NFL wide receiver Sean Morey who was drafted by the Patriots and was on the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl winning team of 2006
  • NFL safety Jose Gumbs who last played for the Washington Redskins and is now a free agent.

This house was standing on the campus when all of these people were attending Hebron Academy.

It's always sad to see a piece of history that has stood for over two centuries come down, but it seems the cost of repair to this old house was not worth it.
