The Portland Press Herald reported that the US Coast Guard may soon be deploying boats to break up the ice covering our rivers here in Maine, as flood watches and warnings threaten communities along their banks.

After the recent rain and high water levels along the Kennebec river and the devastating flooding in recent weeks, The US Coast Guard told the Press Herald that they received a request from the Maine Emergency Management Agency to break up the ice on the Kennebec to help stop further flooding.
