We Need to Talk About 5-Year-Old Who Damaged $132,000 Sculpture

Has your kid ever destroyed anything? Of course they have. But this 5-year-old damaged a $132,000 sculpture. Should the parents have to pay?

My parents didn't say 'THIS is why we can't have nice things' for nothing. But here's where the fight is - who is responsible?

The video clearly shows this kid hugging the sculpture (that wasn't supposed to be touched) at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

There were no parents near by and they were found to be 'negligent for not monitoring their children' by the insurance company.

We have all let our eyes off the kids for 'two seconds' and sometimes it ends in disaster and sometimes nothing happens. This time it was disaster. But should the 'don't touch' sculpture have been better protected? Should the parents have watched their kids more?

According to WMAR in Baltimore, the kid's mom (Sarah Goodman) said,

It’s in the main walkway. Not a separate room. No plexiglass. Not protected. Not held down. There was no border around it. There wasn’t even a sign around it that said, ‘Do not touch.’

Right now it's a battle of insurance and they are trying to figure out who is paying for the damage...

So...who's responsible?
