Last July we learned that the building that houses Pizza Villa, a west side institution for 50 years, had been bought by Maine Medical Center as part of their $512 million expansion. At the time the hospital had no plans on closing the restaurant owned by brothers Tony and Phil Regios. In fact, the hospital was helping them look for new owners. The sale of the building to Maine Med is expected to be finalized later this month.

Today we know that two other brothers, Sam and Rob Minervino have signed a lease for the restaurant after extended discussions and coordination with Maine Med, and with the Regios brothers. Sam and Rob plan to keep the restaurant operating and make some minor renovations at the same time, according to PortlandFoodMap.com.

As for the rest of that building, Maine Med has no plans to tear the building down and will most likely use the upper floors for medical offices once the sale is final.
