Police officers in Maine have to deal with all sort of calls the you typically wouldn't get in large metropolitan areas. Take for instance the call that Westbrook Police Officer Garrett McCarthy got of a runaway horse.

The horse got away near Cumberland Street in Westbrook and when Officer Garret arrived, all he could do was try to keep the horse from not running away again. Officers don't carry hoofcuffs.

The horse seemed to take a liking to McCarthy who was able to keep him calm and in place until the owner was able to show up and take the horse home.

After making his connection with the horse, Officer McCarthy has been dubbed the horse-whisperer.
