Stuck for what to do with the kids for vacation coming up? Kids are half price and FREE on Sundays when you take the Amtrak Downeaster. Plus, they have a new LegoLand package!

We took advantage of the great deals with the Amtrak Downeaster. Kids ride half price everyday and FREE on Sundays! Just use discount code V581 when booking your tickets. Plus, they have a new LegoLand package that includes the New England Aquarium!

Here's the deal with the train. I'll sum it up best by a conversation I overheard on the 6 am train down to Boston on Saturday morning. It was PACKED with Bruins fans on their way to a very disappointing loss at the garden.

4 big burly Bruins fans were sitting right behind me when they started talking about the advantage of taking the train:

It's wicked easy!

I know right. I mean who wants to pay for that @#%! parking?!

Plus, I don't have to fight those @#$! drivers!

You are right about that and it drops you right off in the Gahhhden.

I was giggling and realizing, they were spot on! Plus, we took the kids who just love it. They love the food car, they love the view, the love they can get up and move around. They love the sliding doors on the bathrooms. They love pushing the thing to make the doors open to connect to other cars (listen, they're kids....they loved it all!)

You know what I like best about the Downeaster? I love that damn horn. I find it soothing.

Now, back to our crazy weekend! We stayed at the Omni Parker House Hotel (right in the heart of Boston!) we went to the Boston Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, Fenway, shopped, ate and had THE best weekend! We plan on going back for another tour of Fenway, a Duck Boat tour...and whatever else pops up in Boston. Oh, and there's no way we're driving. That T takes you everywhere once the Downeaster gets you there...

After our tour of Fenway, we went to the Boston Museum of Science. My favorite part of the museum is how interactive it is. You would spend a whole weekend at the museum and not do everything. We spent a lot of time in the 'Hall of Human Life'. Here's a video of me learning how many calories I burn while walking!

Now cool and funny and weird is that?! We just had a blast! Then it was off to the Omni Park House Hotel, and the next (and final day in Boston) to the New England Aquarium.
