I recently made a trip back to my old home town of Providence, Rhode Island after being away for a while. I lived there for 18 years and, quite honestly, I was more than ready for a break when I left. It took me almost 3 years to go back! I miss some people there, but Facebook keeps us connected.

Some things I missed about Rhode Island: Italian Bakeries. They are EVERYWHERE. Specifically their "red pizza strips" which is basically their homemade dough and red sauce. YUM. Del's Lemonade. It's like a slushy but there's something special about this kind. You can only get it there. "NY System Hot wieners." Yes, you read that right. It's a small hot dog (made of pork and veal) topped with celery salt, yellow mustard, chopped onions and a seasoned meat sauce. Totally bizarre, and you can only get it there. Lastly, coffee milk. It's like chocolate milk but coffee flavor made famous by a company called Autocrat. It's the Rhode Island state drink. True story.

If I ever leave Maine, I will miss the amazing landscape and scenery here. I don't know if I'll ever get used to how beautiful it is. There is beauty good enough for a postcard at every turn. I would definitely miss the food and the beaches. Oh, the beaches. I took this pic at Mackworth Island on Labor Day weekend. Killer.

Mostly though, I would miss the stars. You can laugh and think I'm cheesy. I have lived a few different places and traveled the East Coast enough. The stars are so bright and amazing here. It astounds me.

I'd love to know, if you ever left, what Maine places or things would you miss most, other than your family and friends? Answer in the comments section of the website below or on our Facebook and Twitter pages using the hashtag #mainelife.
