There's a tall road sign in the village of Harrison, Maine that points to all the attractions and nearby towns in the area that has stood there for over 60 years. The signs have changed over the years with one thing noticeably missing today.

King + Miller Real Estate posted an Instagram photo of the sign at the corner of Routes 135 and 117 in Harrison that points the direction to the VFW post, area businesses and a few campgrounds.

But 60 years ago the signpost showed a lot more of a certain type of business than you'll see today in Harrison. Look at this photo from 1956 from the Norway, Maine 1950-1970 Facebook page.

Look at all the camps, cabins, inns, hotels and other places to stay that were just a short distance from Harrison. Today most of the camps are gone and there are just a handful of inns and campgrounds. The whole area at the corner has been reconstructed over the years as well.

Time marches on.
