Is this really a pack of wolves on and old pier on the Portland Waterfront? Actually they're dogs and are startling people who wander past them.

A South Portland artist by the name of Andy Rosen created this art installation called "Unpacked" on the old Grand Trunk railway pier. The pier burned in 1969 and what's left of it hasn't been of much use until the dogs came along.

According to the Press Herald, the dogs are made of PVC and fake fur to make them look real. It's doing the trick, but they look more like wolves than dogs.  It's a temporary installation so the wolves won't be there forever.

I saw pictures of these in my Facebook feed yesterday and even did a double take at the photos. I thought they were real for a moment until I saw this one perched in a single pylon of the old pier.

There's no way a real dog/wolf could get up there on it's own. Am I the only one creeped out by this art?
