9-year old Nick, underwent brain surgery at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland to remove a golf ball-sized cancerous tumor attached to his cerebellum. The tumor was diagnosed as a medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor afflicting children. Because of the type of cancer, they were invited to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where they have a program to target Nick’s specific type of tumor.

Sarah Emerson, a marathon runner who lives in Portland enters the picture. Sarah has been involved in raising money for St. Jude Children's Hospital and she learned about Nick and wants to celebrate his success!  St. Jude Children's Hospital offers services for free.

To celebrate Nick's return back home, she is organizing a Welcome Home 5K/Party on June 11th.

Please join the fun in welcoming Nick home after spending the last year at St. Jude's battling brain cancer and help raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. There will be music, food trucks, ice cream and much more! The fun run begins at 9:30 and the 5K will start at 10:00!

Congratulations Nick on getting through a tough year. Let's celebrate his road to recovery!
