$27.5M ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Townhouse for Sale Has New England Ties
One of the BEST MOVIES EVER. I don't care if you're a guy or girl, this movie grabbed everyone. And now, Miranda's Priestly's Upper East Side $27.5 million townhouse in New York (yes the real one used for the movie) is on the market.
The character of Miranda, the editor-in-chief of the magazine Runway in the movie, was of course played by the fabulously talented, loved, iconic Meryl Streep. Who doesn't love Meryl, who earned her Masters in Fine Art from Yale University and went on to have 21 Academy Award nominations (winning three) and a record 32 Golden Globe Award nominations, (winning eight)? She also has ancestral ties to Rhode Island and is descended from 17th-century English immigrants there, according to Wikipedia.
Now, her abode from The Devil Wears Prada is a major piece of pop culture history, and is looking for a new owner. Listed by Adam D. Modlin of the Modlin Group, 129 East 73rd Street is a six story, seven bedroom, eight bathroom townhouse with four incredible terraces, according to the listing. It also includes a gym, library, recreation room, half basketball court on the roof, as well as a spa with a Jacuzzi. At 12,000 square feet, who can forget when Anne Hathaway's character, Andy Sachs, first entered the foyer to deliver the book? I've attached that scene just prior to the photo gallery below.
There's also a top-of-the-line kitchen, marble floors, and lighting from the 1030's according to Robb Report. In total, this breathtaking home has 20 rooms filled with original architecture from 1907, as well as renovations from 2005.
