A Swarm of Bees Covered a Metro Bus Shelter in Portland
Here's something you don't see every day in Portland. A swarm of bees covered a Metro bus shelter and the professionals had to be called in!
Thousands of bees were covering a good chunk of the bus shelter and when Portland Downtown's Katie Bertin saw it, she put in a call to the Maine State Beekeepers Association. They came and wrangled the bees into a hive and took them to a much better location that downtown Portland.
As you may know, bee populations have been plummeting in the United States, and our dependence on bees is huge. They are a big part of Earth's ecosystem.
Luckily thanks to the Maine State Beekeepers, these guys will live to see another day of pollinating flowers and making honey.
