Apple Admits to ‘Rigging’ Older Phones to Stop Working So Well?
You know, sometimes stories come along in the news and in my life that are just 'not normal'. And, I shake my head, and say 'What the Crap Man'?!
What the Crap Apple!
According to WMTW Channel 8, Apple has come out and admitted that they do rig the older IPhones with 'chintzy' batteries. Is this shocking to you? I feel down right used and tricked man! Do you notice when a new IPhone comes out, all of a sudden your older version stops working so good? Starts slowing down? Apple says this is because the batteries they put in the IPhones are not meant to last longer than 3 years. That is why you get the overwhelming feeling to buy the newest version of the IPhone shortly after it comes out. Because your phone all of a sudden sucks! To me, this is SO shady! Now, Apple of course has a 'scapegoat'. Here is their official quote on the situation:
Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers, which includes overall performance and prolonging the life of their devices. Lithium-ion batteries become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components.
"Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6S and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions. We've now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future."
Blah, blah, blah. Basically, they say you don't have to buy a new IPhone is you don't want to. All you need to do is buy a new battery for your old phone. Oh, NOW you tell us! I feel 'dupped', do you?
Have you bought the recently released IPhone due to this reason?
