We’ve all heard of New Year's resolutions—the promises we make to ourselves as the calendar resets, filled with optimism and the desire to improve our lives. But have you ever considered trying "Mid-Year resolutions?"

As we find ourselves halfway through the year, it's the perfect time to re-evaluate our goals and make better, more fitting decisions that align with our current circumstances. Just like how a baseball manager would replace an ineffective pitcher, it's time to shake things up and give ourselves a fresh start.

As we approach July 2nd, the official midway point of the year, take a moment to reflect on what you had planned for yourself at the beginning of 2023. If you've accomplished what you set out to do, congratulations! You've done an incredible job. But if you haven't, don't fret. Remember, the goal isn't to beat yourself up over unmet expectations. Instead, it's about finding resolutions that truly resonate with who you are now, not who you were six months ago.

Personally, like many people, I too make resolutions every year. This time around, my ambitions were soaring high. I wanted to save money, eat more vegetables, drink more water, see the Celtics win the NBA Finals, and win a silver medal in any competition. Some of these goals are quite common, while others might have seemed a bit off the wall.

When it comes to saving money, eating vegetables, and drinking water, I acknowledge that I haven't been as successful as I'd hoped up until now. However, that doesn't mean I should give up. I'm determined to continue making progress in these areas for the rest of the year. After all, it's never too late to start building healthier habits and taking care of ourselves.

Now, regarding the Celtics winning the NBA Finals, well, let's just say it didn't pan out. Instead of dwelling on the disappointment, I've decided to shift my focus and make a resolution for the Red Sox to make a miraculous comeback this season and win the World Series. Sometimes, changing course and adapting our goals can lead to unexpected and exciting outcomes.

And as for that elusive silver medal, my hopes were pinned on a chili cookoff competition at my previous workplace. Unfortunately, I won. But that hasn't deterred me from continuing to strive for that second-place finish in some form or another. There are countless opportunities ahead, and who knows where the next chance to claim that silver medal might arise?

Now, take a moment to think about how you want the rest of your year to unfold. Embrace the same effort and determination that you had at the beginning of the year. Remember, we're only at halftime, and the game is far from over. Use this opportunity to set realistic, meaningful goals that align with your current aspirations and circumstances. Give yourself permission to let go of resolutions that no longer serve you or bring you joy. Life is a journey of growth and evolution, and it's okay to make adjustments along the way.
