This Maine Antique Store Has Everything You Could Want, and Things You Don’t
Antique stores are plentiful in Maine, but one stands out in Ellsworth, Maine, declaring itself "The Best Little Antique Store in Maine." It's not hard to miss when you drive by it on Route 1A, the road that gives the store its name.
Route 1A Relics is a sight to see, and that's just the outside.
Inside and outside the unique-looking building are all kinds of oddities and treasures from the past. Without even having been to 1A Relics, I already found something I would love to have if it's for sale.
That is a vintage railroad crossing signal. There was one on the bottom of the street I grew up on. I loved watching the trains go zooming by as the lights and bells flashed. Even if it was for sale, I'm pretty sure my girlfriend would not be too happy with me installing it in our backyard.
The Pickin’ Weeds Vintage YouTube channel visited 1A Relics around Halloween 2023, and took a video tour of 1A. Some of the things they find as they roam about are unique, to say the least. Like the Bob Ross cardboard cutout. Who needs one? Someone who's a fan of the late PBS artist may want to pick that up.
The number of things you never even knew existed is astounding. It's almost like 1A Relics is more of a museum than an antique shop.
If you want to plan a trip to 1A Relics, you can find them at 444 Bangor Road in Ellsworth. Bangor Road, of course, is also Route 1A.
