Bridge Closure on Maine Turnpike to Last 2 Weeks
The Shaker Bridge in Gray will be closed for the next two weeks so crews can repair and improve the aging bridge.
The Maine Turnpike Authority says repairs to the bridge will include raising it to avoid future vehicle hits, replacement of the bridge wearing surface, repairs to the concrete deck and substructures and even reconstruction of the roadway approaches at a cost of $565,000, part of the $3.6 million Turnpike improvement contract.
During the closure traffic will be routed around the site via Route 202 and 26A.
The bridge will be closed to traffic beginning at 4am Wednesday morning.
