Many shelters in Maine go above and beyond for animals. Taking in countless cats and dogs from kill shelters in the south as well as local animals that can no longer be cared for by their owners, or animals that have been lost, abandoned, or are simply unwanted.

Sometimes animals come to shelters in rough shape. That was certainly the case for Bruce, a sweet grey and white cat. He ended up finding his saviors at Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta and thanks to donations to The Christopher D. Walters Second Chances Fund, he was able to have his medical needs met.

Bruce had some serious wounds on one of his legs that needed to be amputated. He's adjusting well to the change and would really like a home to settle down in.

Mister Bruce did test positive for feline immunodeficiency virus so he will need to be an indoor cat and be restricted to a special diet.

If you think you would be the perfect fit to give Bruce the loving home he deserves, be sure to visit him at KVHS. The staff will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about his FIV as well.
