Can You Identify This Spider I Found on My Deck? [VIDEO]

This unwanted visitor showed up on the deck in my apartment. I thought it was cool. My girlfriend and her daughter were freaked out! What kind of spider is this exactly?

The video I took of me trying to get this guy from causing any more panic in the house shows him in action as he tries to crawl away from my broom.

I was told to kill it. People on my Facebook page said to burn the house down. Why do we hate spiders so much? They're harmless. I'm also kind of fascinated with them. So I really want to figure out what kind of spider this is.

I got him on my broom eventually and just kind of tossed him over the side of the deck. Why didn't I kill him? It wasn't out of compassion. I just hoped he'd come back to freak the girls out again.
