Maine is definitely a state for all seasons, as Carnaval ME's website suggests. There are numerous events in the spring, summer and fall, but not as many in winter because of the bitterly cold weather.

Carnaval ME celebrates all things winter -- such as sledding, igloos, ice sculptures, bonfires, and more. It's going to be a three-day winter party at Portland Maine's Eastern Promenade on January 30th through February 1st, with a Snow Ball kicking off the festival. The Bicentennial Winter Ball marks the 200th year of Maine's statehood, according to a press release. There will be art installations, illumination shows, a rail jam competition and special igloo soiree events. "Professional ice sculptors will wow the crowd with live events, offering a world-class experience for people of all ages," as per the press release.
