We are hearing the dreaded "S-Word" this week.

Yup, snow in the forecast for Thursday into Friday. It doesn't look like it will be much, but is a plowable snowstorm "normal" for early November?

Well, we have friends at the National Weather Service in beautiful Gray, Maine and they had this answer from their Facebook page:

"Generally speaking, the first flakes of snow are observed within a few weeks of Halloween. The first accumulating snow comes around Thanksgiving. The winter snowpack sets in around Christmas or New Year reaches its peak in February and melts off in March (though January thaws are common).
