Darius Rucker is the 'Hootie' in Hootie & the Blowfish. Before their concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater on June 14, he played some golf.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Hootie & the Blowfish were huge in the '90s, with hits like, "Hold My Hand", "Let Her Cry", and "Only Wanna Be with You". But you might not know that as passionate as Darius is about singing, he's just as passionate about golf. He slipped in 18 holes of golf at Rocky Knoll Country Club in Orrington before his concert.

Daisy Wight, co-owner of the club, said she and her husband Mike were so happy that Darius picked Rocky Knoll Country Club. She said on Facebook,

It’s not every day that a celebrity stops by to play at our course! Darius Rucker and his buddies stopped by to play a quick 18 before the concert tonight, it was great having him on the course and he is an avid golfer, they said they enjoyed the course immensely!

Is Darius Rucker of 'Hootie & the Blowfish' as nice in person?

I'd say that is a huge yes! He not only took the time to pose for pictures with the staff, but he gave them six tickets to the show and a VIP meet-and-greet! I don't know how much more VIP it could get than hanging with you at your job!

"What a guy!", Daisy Wight said in a Facebook message.

Darius Rucker IS a good guy, and a huge golfer. In fact, he's teamed up with Parsons Xtreme Golf (an equipment company), and on some tour dates of Hootie & the Blowfish, you could win a round of 18 holes with him.

Get ready, Maine. It's summertime, and Darius is just one of many celebrities who sneak into Maine to soak up that Vacationland living!
