Disease Carrying Ticks Are Back After a Snowy Maine Winter
While we were toughing out a rough winter of sub-zero temperatures, below the snow ticks were as snug as a bug under an insulating blanket of snow. That's right, ticks are back and it's important to protect yourself and your pets. The tick population has been steadily growing over the last ten years and so has the number of illnesses that they carry. The Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are urging us to take precautions against ticks while we spend time outdoors. I found a tick crawling on my jeans last week-yuck!
