Maine Seafood Restaurant Where Oprah Had Her First Lobster Roll Sets Season Opening Date

With the temps rising and the days rolling closer to summer, the seasonal restaurants in Maine have begun opening their doors or getting ready to do so.

That includes the Harpswell restaurant where Oprah Winfrey had her very first lobster roll, a lobster roll she called "the real deal."

The Dolphin Marina announced its 2026 return on social media for April 29.

When Does the Dolphin Marina in Harpswell, Maine, Open in 2026?

According to its website, the Dolphin Marina has been around since 1966. That's 60 years!

Thankfully, the seasonal seafood spot is returning for 2026 and revealed on Facebook that it would be open once again starting Wednesday, April 29.

It also noted that its hours would be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

When Did Oprah Winfrey Visit the Dolphin Marina in Harpswell, Maine?

You might not have known this, but Oprah Winfrey visited Maine in 2020, right before the pandemic really took off in the United States.

She shared a Facebook video of her eating lobster rolls at the Dolphin Marina along with some Oprah's Book Club members after they had read Elizabeth Strout’s “Olive, Again,” a novel that takes place in Maine.

Oprah shared that while she's had lobster before, she had never had a lobster roll. She clearly enjoyed the Dolphin Marina lobster rolll, even joking that the Popeye's chicken sandwich has some competition.

While you can certainly get a lobster roll at the Dolphin Marina, the longstanding seafood restaurant also serves up a variety of other foods.

Their website notes some of their standouts, including fish chowder, lobster stew, blueberry muffins, Maine lobster dinners, hand cut steaks, and, of course, fresh seafood.

That's not to mention you get a fantastic ocean view, where you can watch the boats cruise by.
