Don’t Miss: Tulip Gardens in Portland, Maine, Are a Stunning Burst of Spring Colors
Wow, the color is absolutely incredible as spring blooms with an explosion of color in Portland, Maine.
I mean, tulips define spring and the awakening from the winter season ready to embrace warm weather, a new season, and the cycle of life. What a burst of freshness.
I'm sorry if that sounds a bit cheesy, but honestly, it's hard not to be moved by the beauty and poetry of how the tulip defines the springtime.
They don't last very long, either, as they are basically the welcoming of summer. So, enjoy the beauty of these Portland tulips while you can.
If you get a chance to see this spectacular burst of color in person, the Portland Maine Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department says you may notice that some of the tulip beds are in full bloom while other beds have barely begun to open.
That's because they say they chose early spring and mid-spring blooming varieties to extend the bloom period for our enjoyment. I so love this right now.
The second reason, according to the Portland Maine Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department, is that some beds receive more sunlight than other beds. We know that tulips live for the sun. They literally grow toward it and often follow the sunshine.
I hope you're enjoying these beautiful photos posted on the Portland Maine Parks and Rec Facebook page, because they are a sight to spread a smile. They say each season when they plant the bulbs, they do their best to plant them at least six inches deep to prevent our furry squirrel friends from finding them, digging them up, and enjoying them for lunch.
It looks like the Parks and Rec department did an exceptional job.
