Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia will be in Portland this week for a rehab assignment at Haldock Field with the Sea Dogs.

Pedroia has been out of commission for some time now thanks to a knee injury. He missed almost all of last season and ended up having surgery to correct the problem. This season his knee started to irritate him again after he was a series with the Yankees. Before he's cleared to rejoin the Red Sox, he's coming to Portland to see how he feels playing with the Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs confirmed on Wednesday that Pedroia is scheduled to play Thursday night against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies but may get in a few more games this week.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Sea Dogs manager Alex Cora said that Pedroia could play "back-to-back-to-back games," if he's feeling good.

It looks like the rain will end in time for Thursday's game, but it will be a bit chilly with temps in the 40s. If you see Dustin Pedroia play, you can grab your tickets at SeaDogs.com
