Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies Loves Pinball and Their New Album Proves It [VIDEO]
I swear Ed Robertson of The Barenaked Ladies is just like me except for the fact that he has a lot more talent, can sing, play instruments, is very successful and...okay he's nothing like me except he like's pinball!
Come to find out, Ed is a member of a pinball enthusiast message board called Pinside where we talk about anything and everything pinball. He owns several machines and has used the site for tech support to keep them running.
On May 1st he gave all the members of Pinside a sneak peek at the title track of the Barenaked Ladies new album 'Silverball.' The album art is awesome!
The video for 'Silverball' was shot in what looks like someone's home game room full of pinball machines. Maybe Ed's?
The song is also full of many references to pinball games like 'Attack From Mars,' 'Lord of the Rings,' and many pinball terms like 'Multiball,' 'Making locks,' and 'Setting up and hitting shots.'
Now stand back while I throw some pinball geek on you and identify all the pinball machines in the video by name in order of apperance. Ready?
- The Machine: Bride of Pin*Bot
- AC/DC
- Star Trek
- Whitewater
- The Walking Dead
- The Wizard of Oz
- Metallica
- Bram Stoker's Dracula
- One old electro mechanical game I can't identify. It's made by Gottlieb and looks like it was in the early 70's.
