Endless Winter? Maine Could See More Snow Heading Into May
So at this point, nothing should surprise us anymore when it comes to 2020, right? More than two months ago, the groundhog from Pennsylvania promised us an early spring and for a few weeks in late February and early March, it seemed like the groundhog was right. But late March and most of April have been iffy, including a powerful Nor'easter that dropped piles of snow and turned the lights off for many Mainers. So with the month of May knocking on the door, all this winter weather has got to be done, right? Might want to think again.
Shared on Twitter by Robert LaRoche, some extended forecast models are coming together to predict more winter weather and more snowfall for Maine extending into the beginning of May. If you're squinting at that map or just don't want to believe your eyes, the EURO model is suggesting most of Maine could see anywhere from 6-10 inches of snow over the next 10 days.
It's not just the snow either. At this point in the spring, Maine should be consistently seeing mid-50 degree days for highs. The extended forecast outlook promises very little of that, with most days topping out in the mid-to-upper 40's.
So if a global pandemic wasn't enough to bring you down, enjoy the endless winter. Thanks for the sucker punch Mother Nature.
