Last year, a full-scale replica of the Transformers' Optimus Prime (in truck form) came to the inaugural Great Falls Comic Expo. It was such a success that the expo is expanding to two days and featuring more life-sized Transformers.

That's right: Optimus be at Norway Savings Bank Arena on Saturday, May 4 (Star Wars Day!) and Sunday, May 5 (Revenge of the Fifth). You also might see Optimus in the area on Friday, as he's doing a little tour before attending the Comic Expo.

Optimus is a fan-made replica built with permission from Hasbro, according to the Optimus is Here Facebook page. "This project was led by an ordinary dad who simply wanted to inspire his young son that all dreams are possible," according to the Facebook page. "Our story combined with the incredible work we’ve done has made this replica a symbol of hope that generations of all ages look up to!"

As it currently stands for 2019, The Great Falls Comic Expo is Optimus is Here's only East Coast scheduled appearance! Don't miss this opportunity to see him and the rest of Team Prime!

I'm a geek of all sorts (comic books, sci-fi, technology, video games). I didn't get a chance to attend the Comic Expo last year, but I WILL be in line to see Optimus on May 4 with everyone else. Photo ops inside the vehicles will raise money for a great charity.

I really appreciate how family-friendly this event is: Children ages 5 and younger get in free with a paid adult ticket. Cosplay (dressing up in character) is welcome but not mandatory, and there is plenty to see and do:

  • Fan-built TARDIS replica
  • Transformers Collectible Card Game tournament
  • Controller Throwers Live game-show event
  • Chrysmuu Cosplay judging the cosplay craftsmanship and emceeing the Cosplay Masquerade
  • Magic the Gathering tournament
  • Plenty of comics, creators, vendors and collectibles
