Guess Who I Saw While at Dinner!
I have known this guy for years. Almost 20, and he has always been super nice to me.
I was amazed that he let me take a selfie.
But Senator Angus King did! He was out to dinner with his wife Mary at Empire - my latest obsession. He had just come back from a taping of 'Real Time with Bill Maher' where Maine was a big topic. Especially that damn Ebola nurse! Senator King whipped out his phone and showed me a selfie HE had with Eva Longoria. He won that round!
Yes, Empire Chinese Kitchen is amazing. Not just the food, but the yummy drinks too. Eric the bartender (who HAS been working out thankyouverymuch), suggested this drink when I told him I wanted something light.
I questioned Mr. Bartender about the Jack Daniels in it - but he said I'd love it. I did - but I'm still voting Yes on 1.
I had a great night out and a good set up for watching Peyton and the Broncos get crushed by Brady and the Pats!
The only thing that made the game even better is that I made ribs for the very first time!
I had NEVER made ribs before! So friggin' easy and good, I don't know why I haven't made them before. So good and easy - here's the recipe!
- 3 pounds (I used 4) baby back ribs
- salt and pepper
- sliced onion
- minced garlic
- bbq sauce
- crockpot
Put half a cup of water in the crock pot. Salt and pepper ribs and put in crockpot. Put onions and garlic on top and cook for 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low. Scrape off onion and garlic, put on cookie sheet and cover with BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray's) and put in a 375 oven for about 15-20 minutes. Until sauce is a bit caramelized and sticky. Eat.
Aaaaamaaaaazing!
So to recap. Chatted it up with a Senator, drank Jack Daniels, watched the Pats kill the Broncos, ate ribs that I made myself and went to a killer Halloween party Friday night. Overall, I'd say I had a pretty good weekend.
