Chipmunks are everywhere at camp, chirping loudly, scurrying under decks and eating everything in sight. This guy got his hands on something unusual he found on the ground and it took him about 3 minutes to stuff it in his mouth.

The chipmunks at Keoka Beach Campground have become so accustomed to humans that they have absolutely no fear. I've had them come right up and stand on my foot so that I have to shoo them away.

The chipmunk in the photo above is one of those no fear rodents. It came across the site, found something on the ground and then spent a good five minutes cleaning it off before stuffing it in its cheek. Why did it take so long? It was taking off the sugar.

Sour Patch Kids

One of the kids had dropped a Sour Patch Kid on the ground. I grabbed my phone when I saw him pick it up it and took the picture as we all watched it work furiously to remove all the sugar. It had to have taken about 3 minutes to finish the job.

When I realized how hard he was still working at it, I switched to video but caught just the tail end as he finished up and jammed it in his cheek.

At least I assume he put it in his cheek to bring back for winter storage. Did he actually eat that thing? I bet he felt that sugar high hangover the next morning.
