This is a sandwich of epic proportions. It weighs 5.2 pounds and is filled with just about everything at the Thanksgiving dinner table and I won it at an event at Arcadia in Portland.

For those that aren't familiar with Arcadia, it's an arcade bar that opened on Preble Street in Portland in 2014 and later moved around the corner to 504 Congress Street in the much larger space of the former Port City Music Hall.

They have both modern and classic arcade games, ticket redemption games, music rhythm games Skee-Ball, and a lot of pinball machines. All that and an amazing bar and kitchen that makes some of the best pizza and sandwiches in town.

Arcadia hosts a Skeeball League, is a location for The New England Pinball League, and hosts several pinball tournaments throughout the year. One of those pinball tournaments is the annual Arcadia Leftover Classic, where players compete for the giant sandwich full of Thanksgiving leftovers. Second place gets a smaller sandwich and there are cash prizes involved too.

I managed to finish second in the tournament, so I was expecting a small sandwich. Turns out that winner Joey Harwood of Portland is gluten-free. The kitchen threw together another sandwich that was gluten-free for Joey and I got the gluten-full sandwich plus $100.

What's in the sandwich? Brace yourself. Here it is layer by layer:

  • Two pizza shells serve as the bread
  • Leftover turkey
  • Brussel sprouts and bacon
  • Mashed potato
  • Gravy
  • Crispy fried red onions
  • Cranberry Sauce (from a can which is the best kind)
  • Stuffing
  • More turkey
  • More gravy

And there you have it. 5.2 pounds of Thanksgiving between two delicious pizza crusts.

Lori and I dove in to give it a try on Monday morning, Just 12 hours after the tournament. Forgive the video still that Facebook chose that makes me look like a dork.

Thanks to Dave Aceto and everyone at Arcadia involved in the tournament and the making of this epic Thanksgiving leftover sandwich. It will probably be gone by Tuesday.
