Ya know how you are just going about your day and then BAM - something out of the ordinary happens?

Well, that happened to me when I cut this seemingly harmless little watermelon open.

I found this!

What the actual what? Uh...that's not red. IT'S FRIGGIN' YELLOW!

Well, according to Spoon University:

Yellow watermelons lack lycopene, which is the chemical that produces a reddish color in fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and red grapefruit.

It's a little bit sweeter too, and is loaded with good for ya beta-carotene, and vitamins A and C.

But (and it's a big but) I couldn't get half the household to try it let alone like it. It truly does taste just like a sweet watermelon, but the color change was enough to throw off most people at the table with phones out to google if I was trying to poison them.

I guess I should look closely at the sign where I bought it! I swear I was just buying a regular ol' watermelon!
