Maine Campground Damaged By Weekend Fire
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, a Farmington area campground was damaged by a weekend fire.
The press release explains that, on Sunday afternoon, firefighters in Farmington rushed to a structure fire at 283 Red Schoolhouse Road. This is the location of the Troll Valley Campground and crews arrived to find the building already burning.
Fortunately, the first responders were able to act fast. Firefighters from neighboring departments also showed up to help get everything under control. The scene was secured quickly, but the building took a hard hit.
The Farmington Fire Department called in the State Fire Marshal’s Office to help figure out what happened. After taking a close look, investigators say the fire started in a tight space above the basement and below the first floor ceiling. They say it was accidental.
No one was hurt. Sadly, a family cat did not make it.
