There are very few professions that truly make an impact on the lives of thousands.

Teaching is one of those professions.

While most of us had a favorite teacher (or a few favorite teachers), there is no doubt that all of our teachers in some way shaped our lives.  This was true whether the teacher was 'bad', 'good', or 'great'.

Guy Meader was one of those 'great' teachers.

As a teacher, he was described as:

legendary. Patient, kind, and deeply committed, he made his students feel seen and valued — especially those who struggled. “He taught me not to hate math,” one former student wrote. “He made it fun. I’m a better person because of him.”

Unfortunately, in December, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer.  Over the next few months, he fought a courageous battle and went through several rounds of treatments in hopes that he would get a little more time with his family.  And, maybe, be able to return to the classroom.

Sadly, that was not to be.  On May 2nd, Mr. Meader lost his battle with kidney cancer.

He leaves behind a wife, Roxanne, and three children: Leila, Jensen, and Addie.

A GoFundMe has been started to raise money to help his family.  The money collected will go to school clothes and supplies, out-of-pocket healthcare and therapy costs, education savings for Guy's children, and the everyday costs of raising a family.

Guy gave so much to so many families.  Now, it is our turn to give back to his family.
