Doesn't it feel like the year has just flown by?

It's hard to believe we're just days away from the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season with Halloween.

One of the most notable activities on Halloween is, of course, trick-or-treating, but is there a legal limit on how old someone can be and still go trick-or-treating in the state of Maine?

The young, and young at heart (plus people who just want free candy), dress up in costume and go door to door asking for treats. Of course, these days, the kids are more likely to go trunk to trunk instead of door to door.

Regardless of how you go about doing it, the event is usually one of the high points of the year for most kids.

Normally, most kids give it up by the time they are 12 or 13.

According to an article done by News Center Maine, one town in Virginia does have an age limit on trick-or-treating.  It appears that the Chesapeake ordnance, which dates back to 1970, limits trick-or-treating to kids under the age of 13.  Violators can get a fine or even six months in jail!

But, what about Maine?  Are there any age limits on trick-or-treating in Maine?

According to WCSH 6, there are no state-wide age limits on trick-or-treating.  However, that does not mean that there are not specific Halloween-oriented laws in some Maine cities and towns.

Honestly, I believe you should be able to trick-or-treat as long as you want.

Better the kids be out collecting candy than getting into other -ahem- activities.
