You’ll Be Surprised By How Much Snow These Maine Towns Got
You would agree that this year has been kind of strange when it comes to the weather, right?
After a fairly mild winter, we had a spring that featured heavy rain every weekend. Yes, it rained every weekend for about three months straight. Then, we had a hot and dry summer that exacerbated the drought conditions that we had been dealing with. And, so far, this fall has been fairly dry with only a few significant rain storms.
But now it is looking like we are going to end up with an early winter.
Over the weekend, we saw a day-long rainy/snowy mess. Well, that is how it was in Central Maine.
Conditions were quite a bit different in Western Maine and Northern Maine.
Some towns got slammed (for November) with snow.
According to WCSH 6, some of the highest totals were in Aroostook County, Penobscot County, and Piscataquis County.
Some of the higher recorded totals include:
- -Houlton - 3.3"
- -Presque Isle - 3.8"
- -Saint Francis - 4.0"
- -Greenville - 4.5"
- -Patten - 5.5"

Of course, this is just a taste of what we are probably going to end up getting in the near future.
As much as I am not a fan of us getting pounded with snow, I hope that we do end up getting a lot of snow because we need it for our winter tourist industries. Yes, the ski areas can make snow, but it is nowhere near as good as when we get a layer of natural snow. And, of course, there is no way to go snowmobiling without natural snow on the trails.
