Diving Into Purpose at the 36th Annual Lobster Dip for Special Olympics Maine

The year's 36th Lobster Dip was both icy and extraordinary, as more than 600 participants dashed into the freezing ocean, all in the spirit of backing Special Olympics Maine.

According to WGME, this all took place on New Year's Day at high noon where 630 individuals gathered at Old Orchard Beach, forming a line, and plunging straight into the ocean. The photos are incredible. Each participant was required to raise a minimum of $100 for Special Olympics Maine.

Last year, Special Olympics raised $175,000 and this year they have officially broken their previous record, surpassing all expectations and raising an amazing $202,725.37.

Fortunate to have a connection with one of the incredible participants, I'd like to give a happy shoutout to the singular, Olivia Hassell, a proud Special Olympian. Her dedication to this event grows with each passing year.

Despite the chilly temperatures, the warmth of both the event and the people involved radiated throughout this year's Lobster Dip.
