Krampus is coming to Lewiston, Maine!

He’s having a photo event that you are not going to want to miss out on.

On December 7, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 4 PM, Krampus will make a gloomy appearance at Quiet City Books, located at 124 Lisbon Street in Lewiston, Maine.

This festive and spooky event is part of the 3rd Annual Festival at the Plaza, and it’s sure to be an experience unlike any other.

If you're into the bizarre and a little bit creepy, this is the perfect photo opportunity for you!

What is Krampus, anyway?

Krampus might seem like an unusual holiday dude, but the pointy-horned, half-goat, half-human creature has been pulling folks in for centuries now.

Get this, according to Britannica, he originates from Central and Eastern Alpine folklore and is known for his role as Saint Nicholas' counterpart.

Almost like how every good guy has a bad guy, well, Krampus is the bad guy. While Saint Nicholas aka Santa rewards good children, Krampus is there to punish the naughty ones and take gifts away.

I was captivated recently by a post on Instagram showing a Krampus parade. These parades take place all over the world. The one shown below, is from Norway, as per the post.

At Quiet City Books in Lewiston, Krampus will be on the hunt for who's been naughty or nice, offering a photo op with this holiday grump.

Bring your family or friends for a chance to snap a picture, and you'll receive a free high-quality digital copy.

The event is open to all ages, but please note that crying children won't be photographed (but crying adults are negotiable!).

Be ready to smile and enjoy the playful chaos that the yuletide grump, Krampus brings!
